RE: Bigfoot closes

Why does everyone keep mentioning the websites of these companies that go out of business? It's like a billboard. Let's say that a company pays to have a billboard put up, they pay for one year. Who's going to take it down? Why would the company even bother to tell the company that put it up, that they should take it down? The website will be removed when the host does not receive the next payment (probably yearly). It's just like this article saying that they are going out of business... http://www.truckcampermagazine.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=638&Itemid=34 Bigfoot is sponsoring this page. They are a sponsor on the same page that states that they are out of business.

RE: JayCo Travel Trailer + Tahoe = Aerodynamic Issues

I'm going to go out on a limb here and predict that once you weigh everything, you will conclude that you either too much trailer or too little truck. You're assuming an awful lot. Odds are that he never posts here again and goes and complains to someone else. He won't weigh anything. He was looking for support, we didn't give it to him. He's not going to come back here with his tail between his legs and thank us for telling him that he screwed up.

RE: Something to ponder... from the other side

The only thing that I disagree with is the title of this thread. This is not 'the other side', this is just plain common sense.

RE: JayCo Travel Trailer + Tahoe = Aerodynamic Issues

At first glance, the trailer appears to be quite heavy for a Tahoe. How do all of your weights look? I couldn't find a Jayco Aero, but I did find a 28BHS in the Jay Flight line. This trailer has a GVWR of 7500#. Standard towing capacity of the 2007 Tahoe appears to be 7200#; this number usually requires the vehicle to be fairly empty. The more weight you put inside the vehicle, the less you can tow. You should have come to this forum before you bought. Dealers will tow you can tow anything to make a sale. It's a tough lesson that you've learned, sorry about that.

RE: looking for an apple crisp recipe

Oats and Coconut have no business anywhere near an Apple Crisp: Mix: 1.5c cups sugar 1t cinnamon pinch salt Spray 9x13 with PAM, layers sliced apples and above mixture Mix and crumble on top: 1c sugar 1c butter(cold) 0.5t salt 2c flour Bake @ 400* for 20 minutes. Turn down to 350* for another 30 minutes. Turn off oven, leave in oven with door closed for 4 to 12 hours.

RE: looking for an apple crisp recipe

First things first, you have to get one of these: http://base0.googlehosted.com/base_media?q=http://lnt.imageg.net/graphics/product_images/pG01-1688831nm.jpg&size=2&dhm=970b6742&hl=en The trick to a crisp, crumbling top crust is that when it is done baking, you simply turn off the oven and leave the apple crisp in there for at least four hours, preferably overnight.

RE: RV antifreeze vs filter?

Did you bypass the water heater? If not, you'll need 6 gallons to fill the water heater tank before it starts to go to the faucets.

RE: The Picken's Plan for RVs?

I often wondered why people didn't mount a smaller version on the front of the RV, so that it would be generating while driving down the road. Seems as if it would be a good idea...and you'd get the batteries all charged up when you got to where you were going....and maybe even when you were there, if wind was working well!! Using this while drive would be expensive. The turbines would add drag, causing your engine to work harder (and use more fuel). It's more efficient to generate power from your alternator.

RE: A second Frdge "Outside"?

I am still new to alot of this...does the inverter only come into play when running genny???? The inverter is only used when you need to create 120V AC power directly from your batteries. When on shorepower, no inverter. When using genny, no inverter. When neither shorepower nor genny, then the inverter is required.

RE: Converter vs inverter/charger

It all has to do with the way that RVs and boats are used. A boat is generally not connected to 120V power, it needs to be self-contained with a large battery bank. RVs are generally hooked to 120V power, using the batteries only during travel (there are exceptions to this, but this is how the vast majority of RVs are used).

RE: Free internet?

BTW, the cost of internet at the tier 1 wholesale level has dropped 1000% or more in the past decade... Huh?!? What does that mean? A 100% drop in cost would result in $0.00. How can it drop below ZERO?

RE: Class C or a truck and trailer ??

With a $20k budget, a Class C. You won't find a truck/trailer combo for that money that will be viable for full-timing.
